Wetherby Whaler Guiseley kits out budding footballers

Wetherby Whaler’s Guiseley restaurant is helping nurture local sporting talent after kitting out junior football team, Thackley Lightning.

The popular fish and chip restaurant has sponsored Thackley Lightning Under 7s, who play in the Craven League, kitting them out with full kit emblazoned with Wetherby Whaler’s logo.

Wetherby Whaler has strong connections with local sport and supports a number of professional and amateur teams close to its restaurants in Pudsey, Guiseley, York, Wetherby and Wakefield.

Ryan Dean, Manager of Wetherby Whaler’s Guiseley site, said: “Supporting local sport and community projects is very important to Wetherby Whaler, and it’s always a pleasure to help instil in young people a passion for sport.

“We look forward to seeing the team play in their new kit and welcoming them in for post-match fish and chips.”

Lee Duckworth, Thackley Lightning Under 7s coach, said: “We’re extremely grateful to Wetherby Whaler for giving us its backing.

“The new kit looks fantastic and the whole team are proud to wear them. It already seems to have given us a boost – we won our first game in the strip by nine goals!”
