Wetherby Whaler continues support of Yorkshire Air Ambulance

People in Guiseley are set for an evening of charity, entertainment and Fish and Chips, as the Wetherby Whaler hosts a fundraiser for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

Wetherby Whaler’s Guiseley restaurant, on Otley Road, is hosting the event with the support of special guest Jon Mitchell, ITV’s Calendar Weatherman, and performer Luke Murgatroyd, who will provide the evening’s entertainment, including music and a quiz.

The event will take place on 20 March from 7pm. It was initially scheduled to take place in February, but was postponed because of the bad weather brought about by Storm Emma.

Since 2011, the fish and chip chain has raised in excess of £15,000 for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance, which operates a two helicopter rapid response air emergency service throughout the region.

Tracy Speight, Restaurant Manager at Wetherby Whaler Guiseley, has been instrumental in the Whaler’s support of the charity, organising a number of events, including bake sales, raffles and family fun days, that have contributed to the total raised over the last three years.

Kerry Garner, West & South Yorkshire Regional Fundraising Manager: “It is absolutely fantastic to have the Wetherby Whaler’s continued support. Over the last 7 years the staff and customers have been amazing and really come together to ensure each fundraising event has been a success! They have raised a remarkable amount for the Charity over the years and we look forward to working with them on their latest event!

“As an independent Charity, we rely on the kind donations and fundraising events organised by our supporters and every penny goes towards saving lives across Yorkshire!”

Caroline Murphy, Director of Wetherby Whaler, said: “The Yorkshire Air Ambulance provides vital and lifesaving services across Yorkshire, and we are delighted to continue our support of the charity.

“We are grateful to Jon and Luke for their support of our fundraiser, which is shaping up to be another fantastic event, as we aim to raise another significant amount of money for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance. I would also like to thank people for their patience and support of the event, which we unfortunately had to reschedule because of the ‘Beast from the east’ taking hold in February!”

Tickets for the fundraiser cost £15, which includes a £10 donation to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance, as well as Fish and Chips, mushy peas, a dessert and entry to the quiz. Tickets can be purchased from the Guiseley restaurant.

Wetherby Whaler operates five restaurants and takeaways in Yorkshire, in Guiseley, Pudsey, Wakefield, Wetherby and York.
