Wetherby Whaler Guiseley member of staff tackles Leeds half marathon for charity

A member of staff at The Wetherby Whaler in Guiseley will be powered by fish and chips when she tackles the Leeds Half Marathon to raise funds for MIND.

Tarah, 23, who is a fryer at The Wetherby Whaler restaurant on White Cross, has been running either to or from work at the restaurant, which is seven miles, as part of her preparation for the gruelling 13 mile race.

Tarah is completing the half marathon in memory of her father, Robert Wade, who sadly took his own life eight years ago after suffering depression.

MIND is a national charity that provides advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem. The charity campaigns to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding of mental health issues.

Staff at The Wetherby Whaler have been very supportive of Tarah’s efforts and will cheer her on at the start line of the race on May 11.

Tarah Finlay said: “I am really looking forward to running in memory of my dad and am hoping to raise lots of money for MIND, which does invaluable work.

“I would like to thank everyone at the Wetherby Whaler for their support and, although I have been eating healthy in preparation for the half marathon, I will definitely make sure that I carb up on Wetherby Whaler fish and chips the night before the run to power me through!”

Janine Murphy, Owner of The Wetherby Whaler, said: “It is a great thing that Tarah is doing and everyone at the Wetherby Whaler in Guiseley is very proud of her. A lot of our members of staff take part in fundraisers and we are always happy to support their efforts.”
