| Golden days at the Wetherby Whaler |
| A poem from Mrs J Martin from
Harrogate who celebrated their Golden Wedding at
the Wetherby Whaler in York, and we look forward
to welcoming Mr & Mrs Martin back to the Whaler
to celebrate their Diamond Wedding Anniversary. |
It was our Golden
Wedding in March last year
And we wanted to celebrate with family held dear
We knew the Wetherby Whaler has excellent food
The perfect place to set the mood
Brother and sister, Mum and Dad
What a great time everyone had
Nephew and Niece, Uncle and Aunt
Everything perfect, what more could we want
Two tables filled with our relations
At our Golden Wedding celebrations
The sun was shining that day in York
As we got stuck in with knife and fork
With words of praise on everyone's lips
How we enjoyed those fish and chips
Our daughter didn't make it from Scotland you know
Because the line was blocked with snow
So we promised to do it again in June
When the weather would play us a different tune
This time our daughter made it through
And had a great time at our second do
Even my sister made it from Devon
Which brought our numbers up to eleven
She had a long journey on the bus
But she was really keen to celebrate with us |

THE WETHERBY WHALER
I love the Wetherby
Whaler
It may not be by the sea
But the fish and chips you get there
are fresh as they can be The staff are all so pleasant
They make each visit fun
The value and the service
ensure its 'Number One'
So, go to the Wetherby Whaler
For I can guarantee
You will start to call yourself
A 'Regular' like me!

DID
YOU KNOW??? FISH AND CHIP FUEL.
Chris Dovey an engineer from Pembrookshire
made headline news when he used waste oil from fish and
chip shops to run his diesel car. Mr. Dovey pays regular
visits to local take-away's to stock up on fuel supplies
and says to have to filter it several times to get all
the chip bits out.
*The Wetherby Whaler group of Restaurants only use beef
dipping. |

| Fishy Jokes |
It was a cold winter day, when an old
man walked out onto a frozen lake, cut a hole in the ice,
dropped in his fishing line and waited for a fish to bite.
He was there for almost an hour without even a nibble when
a young boy walked out onto the ice, cut a hole in the
ice not far from the old man and dropped in his fishing
line. It only took about a minute and WHAM a Largemouth
Bass hit his hook and the boy pulled in the fish. The old
man couldn't believe it but figured it was just luck. But
the boy dropped his line in again within just a few minutes
pulled in another one. This went on and on until finally
the old man couldn't take it anymore since he hadn't caught
a thing in all this time.
He went to the boy and said, "Son, i've been here for over
an hour without even a nibble. You have been here for only
a few minutes and have caught half a dozen fish! How do
you do it".
The boy responded, "Roo raf roo reep ra rums rram"
"What was that?" the old man asked. Again the boy responded "Roo
raf roo reep ra rums rram"
"Look," said the old man, "I cannot understand a word you
are saying" So the boy spat into his hand and said " You
have to keep the worms warm!" |
THOUGHTS
ON THE NEW EXTENSION AT THE YORK WHALER.
The building work didn't
cause chaos, it only lasted a while. The meals
were just as delicious and the staff still served
us with a smile.
We had to walk round to the doorway, but that didn't
matter one bit. It let us all look at the
work going on and gave more chance to keep fit.
And now it's all finished and looks really good,
its so airy, spacious and bright. With the staff
all so charming and wonderful food, York
Whaler's a gourmet's delight.
Many Thanks to Pat Smith |
