Supporting Leeds Rhinos' Tom Briscoe

The Wetherby Whaler in Guiseley is supporting Leeds Rhinos and Super League star, Tom Briscoe, for the 2014 season.

Phillip and Janine Murphy, owners of The Wetherby Whaler, a group of fish and chip restaurants and takeaways across Yorkshire, are sponsoring the 23 year old England international who joined Leeds Rhinos this season from Hull FC.

As part of the partnership, every time Tom scores a try, The Wetherby Whaler will flash up on the big screen at the Headingley stadium. Tom will also visit selected restaurants to meet diners and is expected to join VIPs at the official opening of the revamped Wetherby restaurant on 6 March.

The Wetherby Whaler is a leading player in the popular fish and chip restaurant and take-away market in Yorkshire. In addition to Guiseley, it has restaurants and takeaways in Wetherby, York, Pudsey and Wakefield.

Janine Murphy, Co-owner of the Wetherby Whaler, said: “At the Wetherby Whaler we are huge rugby fans and we are delighted to be supporting Tom.

“So far, Tom has scored X tries this season and we expect him to score many more- we’re putting it down to the power of fish and chips, but Tom’s exceptional talent may have something to do with it!”

Tom Briscoe said: “It is fantastic to be starting my Leeds Rhinos career with the support of such a renowned and successful business and I would like to thank Phillip and Janine and everyone at the Wetherby Whaler for their backing.”
